Of course, every new day at work brings its own surprises and it’s sometimes unpredictable how the day will go but having your daily routine is very essential! These are 5 must-do’s that will help you manage your time and effort better:
Ensure that you spend the first few minutes in planning. Plan your time, prioritise your activities, schedule appointments, set reminders and make brief notes before you start your work day.
Break work during the breaks. If it is tea break, take a break and if your lunch hour is from 1 to 2 then be sure to stop everything and take the break with everyone else. It’s not right if work arrives at your table or your phone begins to ring and you are not there to take it. Like the old adage, ‘I eat when my customer eats and sleep when my customer sleeps, so that I am awake when my customer is!’
Get some time with yourself at least 2-3 times a day when you can get up and step out and stretch yourself a bit.
Drink enough water. Not only will you be hydrated, your thought processes will be clearer.
Take stock, at the end of the day, of what you have accomplished and what you could not; make a note of the work that you are carrying over so that you action them first thing the next day.
